Abstract

Ultraviolet radiation is one of the oldest methods of medical treatment. The ancient Egypt and Greece's doctors attributed many healing properties to sunlight. In fact, life would not be possible without the interaction of solar UV with photosynthesis. Before 20 century, the Sun was the only satisfactory source of UV. Currently, there are wide range of generators available ultraviolet radiation is one of them. The aim of this study is to verify through a systematic review the benefits of ultraviolet in vitiligo and psoriasis. The search for references was made with date of publication from January 2000 to February 2019 through research into electronic database. Through the analysis of data were separated into the study 6 articles that addressed the topic and through the analysis of the articles, it was possible to identify that the results obtained in patients through the UVB phototherapy with modes and PUVA shown effective when it refer to treatment of vitiligo and psoriasis, for work directly with the answers of the molecules that absorb light in the tissues (chromophores) so located.
